This review experience is made possible by MomPacker.com. Thank you for providing Papaseat portable
child bike seat for me to experience.
October in Amsterdam is late fall.
Usually there would be a lot of rain during this time of the year,
however, this Saturday is sunny with light wind which is perfect time to try
out PaPaSeat!
I thought my husband’s bicycle could not install PaPaSeat on his city bike, but to our amazement it works perfectly! The height is perfect as well.
After lunch we tried PaPaSeat. I have to admit I’m illiterate to these type
of things and my husband does not understand Chinese. However, after a few minutes working on it
without instructions we were able to install PaPaSeat easily. My bicycle already had a modern child bike
seat, but my 3 year old child barely fits now.
Using PaPaSeat seems to be a good idea as a replacement, however, PaPaSeat
could not be installed on my bicycle because my bicycle frame was in the
way. Because of my height, I had to put
the bicycle seat all the way down which limited the space for PaPaSeat to be
installed.
After installing PaPaSeat on to my husband’s bicycle we quickly got a
hold of my daughter to see if she’s willing to cooperate.
After sitting on PaPaSeat
she fidgeted a little. Looked left and
right and had one of the sweetest smiles and said “Let’s go!”
Putting on the safety belt requires some patience because it requires two hands to get it done. I suggest put on the seat belt on the adult first then get on the bicycle.
Although the safety belt seemed a little excessive, but having it on gave
me more peace of mind. If the weather is
cool then I think the seat belt is suitable.
But after my husband removed the seat belt I could see the sweat path of
the seat belt on his shirt. Many people
on the street looked in curiosity which I think it was due to the seat belt
because it’s not common. I don’t think
every dad in Holland are willing to put on.
Prepare to go!
We road to the outskirts of Amsterdam’s small
forest. The entire ride was slow and
easy for about 30 minutes. I asked if my
daughter was comfortable and she noddle without any discomfort on her
face. The entire trip was as normal as
it gest with her talking no stop, singling her tunes she made up or from kindergarten. Seems like she is enjoying the ride.
We got off in the middle
of the forest and there were many childing picking up pine cones and acorns and
many leaves. Since there weren’t many
people around, we were not concerned that PaPaSeat will be taken away.
On our return trip home, reluctantly
we said goodbye to this wonderful sunset during this wonderful fall season. We rode though some farms and small dirt
roads. We also claimed hills and crossed
a big bridge. My daughter gripped the
handle bars tightly and both feet firmly on the foot peddles. She wasn’t scared at all.
My husband thinks PaPaSeat is very convenient but the seat belt is unnecessary.
After riding for an hour, my daughter said her butt hurts. I think PaPaSeat is better suited for short rides. Traditional child bike seat is still better
for long bike rides due to seat back and built in safety belt. If parents are just dropping off their child
to school or work and need to ride the bicycle to work, PaPaSeat can be easily
installed and removed quickly.
Personally as a parent, safety
is the primary concern. It’s important
to take note of your child’s condition during long bike rides.
My daughter thinks PaPaSeat is comfortable, but after an hour she still have to hold on the handle bar. It’s different from her usual bike seat.
Another nice idea for
PaPaSeat is when we travel to see family and friends and we want to take our daughter
out but there is no child bike seat available.
This will be a perfect opportunity to use PaPaSeat.
PaPaSeat is small and light
weight and can be folded and stored without much space. It can easily fit into a luggage. From a traveling perspective it is very good
idea to travel with PaPaSeat. Easy to
use, light weight and can be folded and stored.
All sounds good to me!
